What is fIS (funInSauga)?
funInSauga (fIS) is a free online application that allows you to easily find food, sports and entertainment venues in Mississauga.
How does fIS work? How do I find places?
You can find places in Mississauga using one of the following methods:
- Search by name: In the top left corener of the screen is a search bar. Type the name of a place to find it. Once it has been found, press enter or click on the name with your mouse to display it on the map
- Right click on the map: Right click on the map for more options. To find more places, you can click on "Food in this area", "Entertainment in this area", "Sports in this area", "All Places in this area"
- Using the navigation menu: Using your mouse, click on the categories on the left hand side. You can click on the
icon to find all places in that cateogry, or you can click on the name of a places to display it.
- Click on house icon: If you have already set your home location, click on the home icon. Click on one of the following options to see what places are near your home: Restaurants near my home, Entertainment near my home, Sports near my home
What is the image/button appears next to each sub-category as I move my mouse over it?
The
button appears next to each category as you move your mouse over it. When clicked on, it will display all the places in that sub-category
How do I zoom-in and zoom-out?
You can zoom-in and zoom-out several ways:
- You can double-click on the map with the left mouse button to zoom-in, and double-click on the map with the right mouse button to zoom-out
- You can use the zoom-in and zoom-out controls located on the top left-hand of the map
- You can right click on the map and select "Zoom-In" or "Zoom-out" option from the menu (not supported in Opera)
Can I specify where my house is?
To specify where your house is, first find where your house is located on the map. To make it easier, you can switch to satelite mode (by clicking on the "satelite" button at the top right corner of the map) , and you can zoom-in (see previous question). When you have found your house, right click on it and from the menu, select "Set as my Home"
How do I find all places in my Area?
There are two ways to do this:

If you have already specified your home location (see previous question on how to do this), then click on the house icon, and click on one of the following options:
- Restaurants near my home
- Entertainment near my home
- Sports near my home

Find where your house is on the map, right click on the map, and from the menu, select:
- "Food" in this area
- "Entertainment" in this area
- "Sports" in this area
- "All Places" in this area
How do I find all places in a particular area of the city?
To find all places in a specific area of the city, right click on the area of the map, and when the context menu appears, choose either:
- "Food" in this area
- "Entertainment" in this area
- "Sports" in this area
- "All Places" in this area
Can I display all locations for a specific category (i.e. Can I display ALL Pizza parlors in the City?)
To find ALL places in a certain category, simply click on the magnifying glass icon that appears next to each category name as you move your move over the category name.
How can I get more info for a place?
To get more info for a place, simple click on the marker(icon) that appears on the map. For most places, you can get a link to the homepage, address, phone number, description and hours.
